Miriane (laity – Trans.) called on the Ukrainian authorities not to impose a gender ideology on society, but to strengthen the Ukrainian family. The text of the appeal, addressed to President Vladimir Zelensky, was published on the Miriane's tg-channel on Wednesday, October 20.
The believers explained that they oppose the ratification by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (Istanbul Convention).
“Under the pretext of combating domestic violence, this convention propels a 'gender ideology' into our lives, promoting LGBT communities in all spheres of life. Instead, we offer the President of Ukraine to strengthen the Ukrainian family as the basis of our society," emphasized in the public organization.
Earlier, the Public Union “Miriane” stated that the Istanbul Convention contradicts the Christian worldview, destroys traditional family values and violates Article 15 of the Constitution of Ukraine.
