On December 18, 2024, the feast day of Saint Sabbas the Sanctified, Metropolitan Agapit of Mohyliv-Podilskyi and Sharhorod consecrated a new church dedicated to Saint Demetrius of Thessaloniki in the village of Morozivka, part of the Murovani-Kurylivtsi deanery.

The new church was set up by the faithful in a private house. Following the consecration service, Metropolitan Agapit celebrated the Divine Liturgy with the clergy of the eparchy.

During the service, at the Small Entrance, the metropolitan awarded the rector of the church, Archpriest Anatolii Pustovalov, the right to wear a pectoral cross adorned with decorations for his dedicated service to the Church.

The religious community in Morozivka had been without a traditional church since 2019, when the previous rector joined the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU). The faithful were initially forced to pray outdoors and later arranged a temporary space for worship.

At the conclusion of the service, the metropolitan offered words of support to the rector and parishioners, congratulating them on the significant occasion of the church’s consecration.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that in the Mohyliv-Podilskyi Eparchy, the UOC consecrated a church dedicated to the Life-Giving Cross.
