On October 30, 2021, in the village of Uhryniv, Volyn region, the vicar of the Volyn Eparchy of the UOC, Bishop Athanasius (German) of Kamen-Kashirsky consecrated a new UOC church in honour of the icon of the Mother of God "Unexpected Joy", reports a UOJ correspondent.
The UOC community in the village of Uhryniv was left without a church back in 2014 as a result of the raider actions of the UOC-KP.
“We are grateful to the Mother of God for supporting us all these seven years, until this joyful day,” said the rector of the community, Archpriest Rostislav Sapozhnik, addressing Bishop Athanasius.
As a reminder, the UOC community in the village of Uhryniv became one of the first in the Volyn region to lose a church as a result of a raider attack in the autumn of 2014. Besides, in the Horokhiv district of Volyn, the UOC-KP took over parishes in the villages of Strelche and Pechikhvosty.
The restoration of the community was complicated by the fact that local business and administrative resources were actively involved in the church conflict.
As reported, in Uhryniv, the foundation for a new temple of the UOC was laid.
