Mykyta Poturaev, a Member of Parliament from the Servant of the People party and head of the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy, announced that the State Service for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience (SESS) has completed the preparation of all necessary regulatory acts regarding the law "On the Protection of the Constitutional Order in the Sphere of Activities of Religious Organizations" as part of its responsibilities, Glavcom reports.
“All the regulations are with the Cabinet of Ministers, almost everything is agreed upon, but a final decision has not been made because there’s one act that the Ministry of Finance is still scrutinizing. This has caused about a month’s delay, but it’s not critical. Once the final issues are resolved, since the other questions have already been agreed upon, the Cabinet will vote on the regulations – and all the necessary tools will be at the disposal of the State Service for Ethnopolitics,” Poturaev explained.
He also noted that after the final vote, the State Service for Ethnopolitics will be able to conduct assessments regarding the connections between churches and the aggressor state. According to the MP, all the necessary conditions for this will be ready by the end of January.
As previously reported by the UOJ, on September 23, Law 3894, aimed at banning the activities of religious organizations affiliated with the aggressor state, came into force. Experts and initiators of the law believe it will enable the prohibition of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church's activities in the country.
