On December 25, 2024, at least 11 Christians were killed in attacks by militants on towns in Benue State, Nigeria, reports the Barnabas Fund.
The publication states that the attacks on Christians took place in several towns in Kwande County on Christmas Day, as Christian believers were traditionally preparing for the celebration.
The exact number of injured Christians is unknown. Nigerian media report 11 fatalities. According to sources, many Christians were forced to flee, and homes were damaged. The attacks continued until December 26.
A Christian community leader in Kwande called the attacks unjustified and unprovoked. "Most community members are still missing," he added.
As previously reported, armed men kidnapped the rector of a Catholic seminary in Nigeria.
