On November 25, 2021, on the day of commemoration of St. John the Merciful, the vicar of the Volyn Eparchy, Bishop Athanasius of Kamin-Kashirsky, performed the rite of laying the foundation for a new church in honour of the martyr Longinus in the village of Borovychi, Manevychi district, to replace the temple seized by OCU raiders with the assistance of local authorities, reports the official website of the eparchy.
Vladyka was concelebrated by the rector of the parish, Archpriest Pyotr Yanochko, and clerics of the Volyn Eparchy of the UOC. The bishop consecrated the cross, the cornerstone and foundation of the future church, in which he laid a memorial capsule.
In conclusion, Bishop Athanasius wished the rector of the community and parishioners of the UOC in Borovychi help in their further work. The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Borovychi, Manevychi district, was seized by schismatics in 2019.
As reported, in Volyn the Regional State Administration handed over two previously seized churches to the OCU.
