February 12, 2025 – A hearing was held at the Kryukiv District Court of Kremenchuk regarding the OCU’s lawsuit against Metropolitan Mykola of the Kremenchuk Diocese of the UOC concerning the Holy Trinity Church. According to Kremenchuk Newspaper, lawyers representing Dumenko’s structure are seeking legal ownership of the Orthodox shrine through the courts.
UOC defender Yaroslav Kovalchuk requested the suspension of the case, filing a motion to withdraw the lawsuit, as the Commercial Court of Poltava Region is currently considering a case challenging the validity of the protocol on the community’s "transition" from the UOC to the OCU.
"If the court in Poltava rules that the community did not transition, then there will be no need to consider this lawsuit," explained lawyer Kovalchuk.
The judge, after hearing arguments from the OCU lawyer, retired to the deliberation room and returned with a decision to grant Kovalchuk’s motion.
The OCU announced that they would file an appeal.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that a court had suspended the case on the eviction of monks from the Lower Lavra.
