Zaporizhzhia Regional Council urges Rada not to ratify Istanbul Convention

The meeting was broadcast on the official channel of the regional council.
In a short time, over 3 thousand residents of the Zaporizhzhia region signed an appeal to the Zaporizhzhia deputies on the Istanbul Convention. The action was organized by the public union "Miriane" (“Laity”).
According to the Telegram channel of the public union, deputy Alexei Kravchun was the initiator of the appeal from the regional council.
The corresponding decision was supported by 49 votes. 29 deputies did not take part in the voting. Not a single deputy pressed the "against" and "abstained" buttons.
The Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (also known as the Istanbul Convention) is an international agreement of the Council of Europe that has been open for signature since 2011. It is causing widespread concern among Christians in Europe that, under the guise of combating domestic violence, opens the way to the destruction of traditional beliefs about gender.
