On March 6, 2025, during a White House briefing, U.S. President Donald Trump spoke in favor of worldwide nuclear disarmament. The event was broadcast live on Fox News’ YouTube channel.

According to Trump, he has made significant progress in negotiations with Ukraine and Russia over the past two days. He stated that "it would be great to bring that to an end so that we don't have to talk that way about nuclear."

"It would be great if everybody would get rid of their nuclear weapons," the U.S. president said, pointing out that while the U.S. and Russia currently possess far more nuclear weapons than other countries, China will soon reach similar levels.

"It would be great if we could all denuclearize because the power of nuclear weapons is crazy," Trump said, emphasizing that he was close to achieving such agreements during his previous presidential term.

"I was very close to having a denuclearization program with Russia, and we were going to get China. I spoke to President Xi about it, and he would have been very happy to have gone along with it. But bad things happened, like an election that was rigged happened, and so we had to come back four years later. But I would very much like to start those talks the opposite of what you say – the denuclearization would be incredible."

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov commented on Trump’s appeal from the Russian side. According to him, the topic remains relevant on today’s agenda, and a dialogue between Moscow and Washington on arms control is necessary.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that, according to U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, Trump’s efforts to achieve peace align with the greatest commandment of Christ.
