The "OCU's Lavra Abbot" Avrahamiy Lotysh commented on Facebook about the fall of the cross from the All Saints Church in the Upper Lavra.
According to him, those who discuss the incident are engaging in manipulation, and he does not consider such people to be Orthodox.
Following the press service of the Lavra Reserve, Lotysh put forward the theory that the cross fell because it "could not withstand vibrations and shockwaves" from Russian missiles.
At the same time, the "abbot" pointed out that the "Mazepa-era" church has "needed urgent and comprehensive restoration for more than ten years." However, he did not clarify whether the cross might have fallen due to a lack of repairs.
Lotysh promised that the cross would be restored and that the "Lavra will definitely shine with the same glory as in the times of the venerable saints, who in their time were under the jurisdiction of the Constantinople Patriarchate rather than the Moscow one, but already without the yoke of the 'Russian world'."
He also speculated that the "Lavra symbolizes the resilience of our people in resisting the Russian aggressor."
Earlier, the UOJ reported that Avrahamiy Lotysh is a full-time employee of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Reserve.
