The Starship spacecraft, carrying the humanoid robot Optimus, will fly to Mars at the end of 2026, Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk announced on the social network X.
"Starship departs for Mars at the end of next year, carrying Optimus," Musk wrote.
If the spacecraft lands successfully, a human mission to Mars could become possible by 2029, although Musk noted that 2031 is a "more likely" timeframe.
Optimus is a humanoid robot introduced by Musk's company Tesla in the fall of 2024. This means it will be the first to reach Mars before humans.
As previously reported, Elon Musk’s Neuralink has registered the trademarks "Telepathy" and "Telekinesis".
