As of 16 January, Greeks over the age of 60 will be fined for refusing compulsory vaccination against coronavirus infection, reports Spigel Ausland.
"Every Greek over the age of 60 who has not yet been vaccinated will have to pay a fine of 100 euros," reports the resource.
This decision was taken by the Greek government at the end of last year. After the Christmas holidays, the population was given free rapid tests to detect asymptomatic carriers of the infection.
"The ‘Spigel” stresses that the fine, which was introduced from January 16, is not a one-off: Greeks will pay it until they are vaccinated.
The money from the fines will go into a special fund to finance hospitals.
The UOJ has previously reported on the position of prominent Athonites regarding vaccinations.
