In Ivano-Frankivsk, the hierarchs of the UGCC buried the head of the regional brotherhood of SS divisionalists "Galizien" Mikhail Mulyk, reports the website of the Ivano-Frankivsk Archdiocese of the UGCC.
The mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk, local deputies, social activists-nationalists, priests of the UGCC came to say goodbye to the deceased. The funeral was led by the head of the Uniates of the region, Metropolitan of Ivano-Frankivsk Vladimir Voytyshyn. At the head of the coffin, the standards of the SS division "Galizien" were deployed. The last volley at the cemetery was fired by people dressed in Nazi military uniforms.
Mikhail Mulyk was born in 1920 in the village of Gorozhanka, Monastyriska district, Ternopil region. His father was a junior officer of the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen. In 1937, Mulyk became a member of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists.
On the instructions of the organization, in September 1943, he joined the ranks of the Ukrainian SS division "Galizien", participated in the battle near Brody in July 1944. After the war, the Soviet court deprived Mulyk of freedom for 10 years and civil rights for five years.
After the exile, the former SS man settled in Stanislav (now Ivano-Frankivsk). In 1991, Mulyk organized the Society of Political Prisoners and Repressed People. A year later, together with the divisionist Vladimir Malkosh, he created a brotherhood of former soldiers of the SS "Galizien".
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that in the Lviv region, a “Nazi” and a bandura player presented a book about SS men. We also recall that in February 2021, in the city of Stryi, Lviv region, the funeral of the SS division "Galizien" veteran Ivan Fialka was held. The farewell ceremony took place in the Uniate church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, where representatives of nationalist organizations, members of the brotherhood of soldiers of the SS division "Galizien" gathered. In June 2021, a funeral service was held for an SS soldier of the Nazi division in the main cathedral of the OCU.
