His Beatitude leads Liturgy at Kyiv’s Church of St. George the Victorious

On May 6, 2025, the Day of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victorious, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry officiated at the Liturgy at the Church of St. George the Victorious, located at the Southern Railway Station in Kyiv, reports the UOC press service.
During the Liturgy, the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was concelebrated by vicars of the Kyiv Eparchy: Archbishop Sylvester of Bilohorodka, Archbishop Dionisiy of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyi, Bishop Lavr of Irpin, Bishop Mark of Borodianka, the clergy of the church, and visiting clerics.
During the service, His Beatitude elevated the parish priest, Father Heorhii Rusynka, to the rank of archpriest.
Following the reading of the Holy Gospel, the archpastor delivered a sermon recounting the life of St. George and spoke about contemporary miracles related to the saint.
During the Liturgy, they prayed for peace in the Ukrainian land, for deliverance from the enemy, that the Lord would have mercy on our people and preserve those who are in despair and have lost their homes, that the Lord would bless people of goodwill who help those in need. The Primate asked God to have mercy on the Ukrainian people, that the Lord would have mercy on the authorities, strengthen the courage of the soldiers, release the captives, heal the sick and give shelter to the homeless.
The service concluded with a hymn of glorification to the Great Martyr George.
At the end of the Liturgy, Metropolitan Onuphry congratulated everyone on the feast and awarded church honors to the benefactors who contributed to the beautification of the church and the faithful who actively participate in parish life.
As reported by the UOJ, May 6 (April 23 according to the Julian calendar) is the day the Church commemorates the Great Martyr George the Victorious – one of the most venerated saints.
