Metropolitan Seraphim of Piraeus: Vatican is a heretical parasynagogue

On February 6, 2022, Metropolitan Seraphim of Piraeus of the Hellenic Orthodox Church, stated that the Roman Catholic Church had turned into a heretical parasynagogue, Romfea reports.

In a sermon dedicated to St. Patriarch Photius and the Council of Constantinople in 879-880, Metropolitan Seraphim noted that the addition by Catholics to the Creed of the word “Filioque” (the Holy Spirit in the teaching of Catholics proceeds “also from the Son” – Ed.) is a heresy, perversion of the dogma of the Holy Trinity and a "tragic apostasy".

This apostasy, according to the Hellenic hierarch, "was introduced into the immaculate faith by the malice, arrogance and demonism of Francoism (in the text: ο δαιμονισμός του φραγκισμού – Ed.), which seized the patriarchate of Orthodox Rome and turned it into a heretical parasynagogue."

According to Metropolitan Seraphim of Piraeus, it was the Filioque heresy that cut off Orthodox Rome "from the One, Holy, Catholic Orthodox Church."

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that in the opinion of Metropolitan Seraphim, the Council of Constantinople condemning the heresy of Catholics is the Eighth and Ecumenical.
