Former Director-General of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Reserve Maksym Ostapenko did not ensure the full range of works for the preservation of historical and architectural cultural heritage. 21 objects are in unsatisfactory condition. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Culture Serhiy Biliaev during a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy on June 4, 2025, reports life.pravda.com.ua
Biliaev spoke about the results of the Ministry's commission, which has worked on the territory of the Lavra Reserve since March 2025.
In particular, the commission found that 21 monuments of historical and architectural cultural heritage are in unsatisfactory condition. The Deputy Minister mentioned the Trinity Church, where the staircase was recently restored, as the commission found, with violations.
The official mentioned that the roof is leaking in the Florian library, air conditioners are installed on monuments, there are no passports in the BTI, and funds are not properly allocated.
As reported by the UOJ, on March 8, 2025, in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, a cross collapsed on the dome of the All Saints Church. In the Reserve, a hypothesis was put forward that the church, which has required comprehensive restoration since the 1980s, was negatively affected by seismic vibrations from Russian missiles.
