Police detains a UOC priest near Kyiv, mistaking him for an RF saboteur

On February 24, the police of Ukraine detained the priest of the UOC, Archpriest Mikhail Pavlushenko, mistaking him for a Russian saboteur. The video of the interrogation of Mikhail's father was published on his Facebook page by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko.

As Archpriest Vitaliy Boyko, Dean of the 2nd Shevchenko Deanery of Kyiv, told the UOJ correspondent, Father Mikhail lives in a suburb of Kyiv, not far from Gostomel, where a helicopter crashed today. He fell on a field near the priest's house, so he was the first to be at the crash site, where he was detained by law enforcement officers.

“Father Michael is the rector of the church in honor of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victorious at the hospital of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Despite the fact that his documents were in the car, very close, the priest was called a Russian saboteur and arrested,” said Archpriest Vitaly Boyko. “From the window of his house, he saw a helicopter fall and hurried to find out if his help was needed.”

Almost immediately, the priest was arrested and taken to the district police station in Bucha. However, law enforcement officers quickly figured out the situation. On the morning of February 25, Fr. Michael was allowed to go home.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that a curfew in Ukraine was introduced from 22.00.
