On June 22, 2025, memorial services were held in Cherkasy on the 5th anniversary of the repose of Metropolitan Sofroniy – the long-serving ruling bishop of the Cherkasy Eparchy, as reported by the press service of the Cherkasy Eparchy.

That day, three memorial Divine Liturgies were celebrated at the Archbishop's Metochion of the Nativity of Christ. At every service, the church could hardly accommodate all the faithful of Cherkasy.

The late Liturgy was led by Metropolitan Theodosiy of Cherkasy and Kaniv, with the city clergy concelebrating. The abbesses of the Stebliv and Krasnohorsky women's monasteries of the eparchy joined the prayer.

Following the Liturgy, a memorial service  was held, during which the deans of the Cherkasy, Zolotonosha, Kamianske, Smila, Chornobai, and Drabiv districts also prayed for the repose of Metropolitan Sofroniy.

After the service, all attendees were invited to a meal prepared by the Sisters of Mercy of the Cherkasy Martha and Mary Convent near the church.

"Anyone wishing to honor the ever-memorable archpastor could join the memorial meal, which was attended by Metropolitan Theodosiy, the deans of the eparchy, and the abbesses of the monasteries. It took place in the open air in the spirit of Christian unity and grateful memory of Metropolitan Sofroniy," the message states.

After this, a delegation of clergy visited the burial site of Bishop Sofroniy on the grounds of St. Michael's Cathedral, which has been illegally occupied by representatives of the OCU for almost a year.

At the memorial complex on the grave of Metropolitan Sofroniy, built with the efforts and means of the current eparchial administrator, the clergy served a litia and laid flowers.

As reported by teh UOJ, the OCU promised to create a museum of Metropolitan Sofroniy (Dmitruk) of the UOC.
