The sisters of the women's monasteries of the Chernivtsi-Bukovyna Eparchy of the UOC – of the Boyany Icon of the Mother of God and Blessed Xenia of St. Petersburg – sent letters of support to His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry. This was reported on the Facebook page of the Bancheny Monastery.
"His Beatitude Onuphry is our Primate, a man whose life follows in the footsteps of the Savior and who teaches us to look up to heaven more often, where our Lord ascended. Today, the severe trials for our Church and our Shepherd Metropolitan Onuphry bring pain and suffering to all the children of our Church," says the message of the Boyany Monastery.
The sisters assured the Primate of the UOC that, as his children, they "have always been and are with him." "Your faith, prayerful support, and fatherly love are our reliance and strength. You have always been and remain with your flock in all difficult times of trials. We pray to God, the Most Holy Theotokos, and all the saintsto strengthen you and grant you the strength to bear your heavy cross! Many blessed years to our Primate, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry!" concluded Abbess Magdalena together with the sisters.
The nuns of the Monastery of Xenia of St. Petersburg highlighted that the archpastor was born on the blessed Bukovynian land, where from a young age he "absorbed the spirit of piety, love for the Church of Christ, and faithfulness to the people of God."
"It is here in Ukraine that the Lord called you to great service – to become a spiritual mentor and father to the Orthodox Christians of our state. We always feel your prayerful support, firmness in faith, steadfastness in confessing true Orthodoxy, as well as your sincere love for every person," the letter states.
The sisters added that His Beatitude, from the first days of the war, supported many citizens of Ukraine not only with words but also with deeds: "Thousands of tons of humanitarian aid were provided to those in need and the destitute. Many people who lost their homes found refuge in the monasteries and churches of our Church, where they were met with open hearts and love. In these challenging times, we have been, are, and, with God's help, will always be with you, prayerfully supporting you in your high ministry."
They wished Metropolitan Onuphry that the Lord would strengthen him with His grace, keep him under the protection of the Most Holy Theotokos, and grant him many blessed years for the good of the Holy Church and the entire Ukrainian people.
On July 2, the SBU reported that Zelensky, by his decree, deprived His Beatitude Onufriy of citizenship. The UOJ analyzed the situation with stripping His Beatitude Onuphry of citizenship and what stands behind Zelensky's decree.
Earlier, the Bancheny Monastery supported His Beatitude.
