On July 18, 2025, the feast day of St. Athanasius of Mount Athos and St. Sergius of Radonezh, and the 28th anniversary of the uncovering of the relics of St. Innocent of Kherson, Metropolitan Ioann of Kherson and Tavria celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Transfiguration Church of the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Kherson.
The morning service began with the reading of the Akathist to St. Eutropia of Kherson at her reliquary.
Following the Akathist, Metropolitan Ioann presided over the Divine Liturgy, concelebrated by clergy of the cathedral and priests of the eparchy.
At the conclusion of the service, Metropolitan Ioann warmly congratulated the secretary of the Kherson eparchy, Archimandrite Athanasius (Burdyukh), on his name day.
He wished him good health, steadfastness, spiritual and physical strength, patience, and God's help in his service for the good of the Church and the people.
Earlier, it was reported that the UOC's Dormition Cathedral in Kherson once again came under shelling.
