Foreign Ministry reiterates Zelensky’s invitation to Pope to visit Ukraine

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has reiterated to the Vatican an invitation from President Vladimir Zelensky to Pope Francis to visit our country, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said in his microblog on Twitter.

He had held a conversation with the Vatican's Secretary for Relations with States, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, in which he thanked the Roman Catholic head for his prayers.

"Reiterated Vladimir Zelensky's invitation to His Holiness to visit Ukraine and bring a ray of light to the Ukrainian people in these dark times," Kuleba wrote.

Zelensky has earlier called on the Pope to be a mediator in negotiations with Russia.

As reported, Kyiv mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has sent an official letter to the Vatican inviting Pope Francis to come to Kyiv. The Vatican responded that the Pope's visit to Ukraine is unlikely at the moment.
