Meeting of the Holy Synod begins in Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

On May 12, 2022, a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church began at the residence of the Primate of the UOC on the territory of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. This was reported by the Information and Education Department of the UOC.

The meeting is chaired by His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine.

The permanent members of the Holy Synod are: Metropolitan Agafangel of Odesa and Izmail, Metropolitan Lazar of Simferopol and Crimea, Metropolitan Mark of Khust and Vynohradov, Metropolitan Hilarion of Donetsk and Mariupol, Metropolitan Theodore of Kamyanets-Podilsky and Horodok, Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshhorod and Chornobyl, Metropolitan Meletiy of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna, Secretary of the Holy Synod, Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, Chancellor of the UOC.

The temporary members of the Synod are Metropolitan Nikodim of Zhytomyr and Novohrad-Volynskyi, Metropolitan Theodosy of Cherkasy and Kaniv, and Archbishop Bogolep of Alexandria and Svitlovodsk. Some of the members of the Holy Synod participate in the work via video link.

Before the meeting, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry and members of the Synod prayed at the Divine Liturgy in the church in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker at the residence of the Primate on the territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary celebrated the Divine Liturgy.

During the liturgy, the hierarchs offered prayers for peace on the Ukrainian land, its power and army, and for the Lord to have mercy on the Ukrainian people, save those who are in despair and lost their homes, and bless people of good will who help those in need.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that on Victory Day, the Primate of the UOC prayed for those who died during the war.
