This is a big sin: UOC Synod officially condemns RF aggression
From the very beginning of hostilities, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church condemned the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and insistently emphasized that war is a great sin, according to the statement of the Holy Synod of the UOC, adopted at a meeting on May 12, 2022, reports the Information and Education Department of the UOC.
It is noted that for almost three months the Ukrainian people have been courageously defending themselves from the military attack of the Russian Federation, which invaded the territory of our sovereign and independent state. “Every day this brutal war takes the lives of the sons and daughters of Ukraine. The flames of war pierced the heart of every citizen, thousands of families felt the burning pain of this terrible tragedy. More than five and a half million Ukrainians were forced to become IDPs,” the Synod said in a statement.
The UOC has repeatedly called for an end to the bloodshed and to the conflict resolution with the help of the word, starting the negotiation process. “Unfortunately, attempts at peaceful negotiations did not bring the desired result. On the contrary, today rocket attacks and bomb attacks have covered almost the entire territory of our Motherland,” the Synod stated.
As reported by the UOJ, the Synod of the UOC stated that the Church has always supported and will continue to support the defenders of Ukraine.
