His Beatitude expresses condolences to ROCOR on its First Hierarch’s death
The Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, expressed his condolences to the Holy Synod of ROCOR on the death of His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of Eastern America and New York. This was reported by the Information and Education Department of the UOC.
“With great sorrow I received the news of the death of our dear and beloved brother, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion. From the fullness of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and on my own behalf, I express my heartfelt condolences to the hierarchs, clergy, monastics and all the faithful children of the Russian Church Outside of Russia due to the loss befallen,” the condolence says.
Metropolitan Onuphry noted that the head of ROCOR, whom he knew personally, committed himself completely to the ministry in the name of the Church.
“The blessedly reposed Vladyka performed his high archpastoral ministry, combining wise and firm leadership of the flock entrusted to him with personal modesty and humility. During his spiritual journey, Metropolitan Hilarion acquired the gifts of the Holy Spirit, setting an example for the faithful "in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity." (1 Tim. 4:12), as evidenced by universal love for him," said the Primate of the UOC.
“During this Paschal period, we lift up prayers to our Risen Lord Jesus Christ for the newly reposed saint of God, so that the Savior would receive His faithful servant in heavenly abodes, where there is no sickness or groaning, but eternal Paschal joy and endless life,” with these words His Beatitude Vladyka concluded his condolences on the death of his brother and colleague.
Recall that the head of ROCOR, Metropolitan Hilarion, reposed in the Lord on May 16, 2022.
