On October 19, 2025, the 19th Sunday after Pentecost, Metropolitan Agafangel of Odesa and Izmail performed the rite of consecration of a new Ukrainian Orthodox Church parish dedicated to the Icon of the Donskaya Mother of God (“of the Don”), located at the Western Cemetery in Odesa, reports the eparchial press service.

Following the consecration, the hierarch celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the new church, concelebrated by Archbishop Viktor of Artsyz and the city clergy.

During the service, prayers were offered for peace in Ukraine, for the soldiers, and for all the people of God. A deaconal ordination was also performed that day.

After the conclusion of the Liturgy, the faithful prayed before the icon of the Mother of God “of the Don.”

As the UOJ earlier reported, an altar was recently consecrated in a UOC church in the village of Chehodarivka.
