On October 23, 2025, at the age of 75, the abbess of the Intercession Convent in the city of Kryvyi Rih, Igumenia Anastasia (in the world Valentyna Vasylivna Alfimova), reposed in the Lord. This was reported by the press service of the Kryvyi Rih Eparchy.
Igumenia Anastasia was born on January 12, 1950, in Dnipropetrovsk. After finishing school, she received a technical education and worked for many years in construction enterprises in her hometown – from a tower crane operator to a senior engineer and cashier-accountant.
In 1996, Valentyna Vasylivna entered the Intercession Convent as a novice. Already a year later, on January 2, 1997, she was tonsured a rassophore with the name Anastasia – in honor of the holy great martyr Anastasia the Deliverer from Bonds.
In August 1998, she was appointed acting abbess, and a year later, by the decision of the Holy Synod of the UOC and with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr, she was elevated to the rank of mother superior. Under her leadership, the convent was revived and strengthened: cells were renovated, a Sunday school was established, a charitable refectory was opened, and churches of the monastery complex were built.
The eparchy notes that Igumenia Anastasia was distinguished by her deep humility and care for each sister. Her love and prayer united everyone around her, both the nuns and the parishioners. With the beginning of the war, the mother superior, together with the sisters, actively engaged in volunteer service, helping the defenders of Ukraine, displaced persons, and those in need. She paid special attention to prisoners, sending them parcels and spiritual support, following the example of her heavenly patroness.
After a long illness, Igumenia Anastasia peacefully reposed in the Lord, having received the Holy Mysteries of Christ.
The funeral Divine Liturgy and burial service for the newly departed Igumenia Anastasia will take place on October 25 at the Intercession Cathedral of the Kryvyi Rih Convent. The service will be led by Metropolitan Yefrem of Kryvyi Rih and Nikopol.
As reported by the UOJ, in Kryvyi Rih, the UOC faithful prayerfully honored the main shrine of the region.
