Antioch Patriarch to UOC Primate: Weeping with you for deaths of Ukrainians

On June 6, 2022, Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East sent a letter to Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine about the war in Ukraine. The letter was published on the Patriarch's Facebook page.

"We’re weeping with Your Beatitude – as Your Beatitude wept with us – over the tragic loss of your flock and Your Beatitude's compatriots as a result of the war. We are all too familiar with the destruction of churches, the deaths of the clergy, monks and faithful, the relocation of civilians to other countries," the Patriarch of Antioch wrote. He stressed that he spiritually supports the Primate and the faithful of the UOC.

"In these difficult moments, our constant prayer is with Your Beatitude and the entire Ukrainian Orthodox Church, and the entire Antiochian Church prays the Holy Spirit, especially at this time of Pentecost, that He may come down and restore peace and bring healing. May the Lord continue to guide Your Beatitude in the leadership of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in these difficult times," John X urged.

As reported, the hierarch of the Church of Antioch named the main reason for the crisis in Orthodoxy.
