OCU suspends "hierarch" selling priest IDs to draft dodgers

On November 13, 2025, the Synod of the OCU temporarily suspended from the Uzhhorod-Khust Eparchy leadership ‘Bishop’ Kyrylo Mykhailyuk, who is under investigation by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) for selling fake identification documents for priests and deacons.

Mykhailiuk was banned from issuing any certificates, references, and credentials, as well as performing "ordinations".

Earlier, the UOJ reported that an OCU “bishop” was paid to register draft dodgers as clergy.
