In Odesa, His Beatitude leads celebrations of Met. Agafangel's anniversary

On November 15-16, 2025, at the Holy Dormition Monastery of Odesa, the Primate of the UOC led festive services on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the episcopal consecration of Metropolitan Agafangel of Odesa. His Beatitude Onuphry was concelebrated by more than 20 UOC bishops and numerous clergy.

On November 15, before the start of the all-night vigil, a solemn veneration of the miraculous "Kasperovska" and "Brailiv" icons of the Mother of God took place, as well as the relics of Saint Spyridon of Trimythous and Great Martyr Panteleimon the Healer.

The next day, November 16, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry led the festive Divine Liturgy. During the service, fervent prayers were offered for peace in Ukraine.

When the ceremony was over, the Primate of the UOC congratulated the jubilee bishop on the significant date and presented him with the Order of Saint Archangel Michael. Archbishop Diodor of Yuzhne read a congratulatory message from the clergy of the Odesa Eparchy.

Metropolitan Agafangel thanked all those present for their prayers, congratulations, and shared joy of the jubilee celebration.

The holy relics remain accessible for veneration by the faithful in the cathedral church of the monastery.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that Odesa prayerfully marked the anniversary of UOC cathedral’s destruction by Russian shelling.
