The National Reserve "Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra" exhibits a fragment of a wall with Banksy's graffiti — depicting a woman in a robe with a fire extinguisher and curlers. Museum officials report that the exhibit is placed in the Great Lavra Bell Tower next to ancient Russian graffiti from the 11th century, created by one of the builders of the Dormition Cathedral.
The Reserve calls this a "dialogue between millennia".
"Banksy has returned to a space that, along with the entire country, is going through a time of struggle… his work here is a symbol that culture is alive and will undoubtedly endure," asserts acting Director General Svitlana Kotliarevska.
The press service of the UOC stated that "this step has become yet another testimony to the deep crisis in the museum administration's attitude towards the sacred space of the ancient shrine".
Previously, the fragment of the wall with Banksy's drawing was transferred to the Reserve's collections for safekeeping.
As reported by the UOJ, Dumenko was again allowed into the Near Caves.
