The Pope speaks again about “restoring full communion” with Phanar
On June 30, 2022, at a meeting with the Phanar delegation, Pope Francis stated that the Patriarchate of Constantinople and the Vatican are engaged in "a fraternal and fruitful dialogue and are firmly and irreversibly committed to the path to the restoration of full communion." It is reported by vaticannews.va.
The Pope noted that the presence of the Phanar delegation at the mass in St. Peter's Cathedral is a sign that the time of distancing and indifference between the churches is over.
The Vatican believes that the search for Christian unity is a necessary condition for the actualization of true universal brotherhood, which manifests itself in justice and solidarity towards all.
At the end of the meeting, the pontiff expressed his hope that the "theological dialogue" between the RCC and the Phanar would develop.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote about the desire of Rome to restore full communion with the Church of Constantinople.
