The 103rd annual lighting ceremony of the National Christmas Tree took place in Washington on December 4, 2025. It was attended by the President of the USA Donald Trump with First Lady Melania. During his speech, the head of state emphasized the spiritual essence of the holiday, reports Tribune Chrétienne.
Speaking about Christmas, the president reminded that "During this holy season, Christians around the world rejoice in the miracle of Bethlehem, more than two thousand years ago, when the Son of God, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, came down from heaven to be with us."
Trump's words were accompanied by a quote from the Gospel of John about the light of Christ: "In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind."
Donald Trump emphasized the historical significance of the Nativity. “With the birth of Jesus, human history passed from night to day. His word and example call us to love one another, to serve one another, to honor the sacred truth that every child is created in the image of God,” he declared.
The US President emphasized that it is faith and gratitude to God that should be the foundation of the Christmas celebration, uniting families and the nation around spiritual values rather than external attributes.
As earlier reported, in the USA, Baptists organized a Christmas show with a flying Santa Claus.
