Ukraine has officially completed the ratification of the Istanbul Convention and submitted the relevant documents to the Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Bjørn Berge. This event was welcomed by the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Marija Pejčinović Burić, according to glavcom.ua.

"I warmly welcome Ukraine's submission of the ratification document for the Istanbul Convention today. Ukraine is the 36th member state of this landmark treaty," she wrote on Twitter.

The document will come into force on November 1, 2022.

Earlier, it was reported that the Verkhovna Rada ratified the Istanbul Convention with 259 votes, disregarding the UCCRO's calls to refrain from this during the war.
