On December 15, 2025, Metropolitan Arseniy of Sviatohirsk took part in a hearing of the Chechelivskyi District Court of Dnipro in a case related to a defense motion to change his preventive measure. This was reported by the press service of the Sviatohirsk Lavra.

Before the start of the hearing, the hierarch felt unwell, after which a prison doctor was called. Despite his condition, Metropolitan Arseniy was escorted to the courtroom under guard. The court considered the defense’s request to change the preventive measure to one not involving detention, citing the health condition of the abbot of the monastery. However, Judge Tetiana Bezruk denied the motion.

At the same time, the judge ordered the medical unit of Dnipro Multidisciplinary Hospital No. 4, located on the territory of the pretrial detention center, to conduct an urgent examination of the hierarch and to determine whether his state of health allows for his continued detention, as well as whether it requires surgical intervention.

The hearing was attended by representatives of the clergy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, believers, as well as People’s Deputy of Ukraine Viktoriia Hryb.

The court also granted the request that Metropolitan Arseniy be allowed to remain in the courtroom outside the glass enclosure and permitted him to participate in future hearings via video conference.

The next hearing is scheduled for December 22. In addition, two hearings of the Dnipro Court of Appeal are set to take place on December 17.

As the UOJ previously reported, a video was published online showing Metropolitan Arseniy being brought to court in handcuffs.
