UOC priest killed by a drone strike in Kherson Eparchy

On January 5, 2026, Archpriest Heorhii Horbenko, a cleric of the Kherson Eparchy of the UOC, was tragically killed by a Russian drone strike, the press service of the Kherson Eparchy reported.
Archpriest Heorhii was ordained to the priesthood in 1998. Since February 2020, he had served as rector of the Intercession Church in the village of Orlovo.
The Kherson Eparchy expressed condolences to the family of Archpriest Heorhii and asked for prayers for the priest who died so tragically.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that the rector of a UOC church was killed by shelling in the village of Hryshyno.
