In Kherson, Met. Ioann serves funeral for UOC priest killed by drone strike

A funeral service was held in the Kherson Eparchy of the UOC for Archpriest Heorhii Horbenko, rector of the Intercession Church in the village of Orlovo, who was killed as a result of a drone strike at his parish, the eparchial press service reports.

The funeral rite was led by Metropolitan Ioann of Kherson and Tavria, concelebrating with clergy of the eparchy at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Kherson.

As the UOJ previously reported, Archpriest Heorhii Horbenko was killed on January 5, 2026, as a result of shelling. The Kherson Eparchy expressed condolences to Archpriest Heorhii’s family and asks for holy prayers for the tragically deceased clergyman.
