Volodymyr councillors demand registration of UOC communities be cancelled

On August 18, at a session of the Volodymyr District Council, deputies appealed to the head of the Volyn RMA in order to cancel the registration of UOC communities in the region, reports bug.org.ua.

Furthermore, the officials asked the President to ban the activities of the UOC in Ukraine.

The district councillors believe that the activity of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is of an openly "anti-state and anti-Ukrainian nature".

"This religious organization consistently pursues a schismatic policy on religious grounds, artificially creating preconditions for religious confrontation in Ukrainian society," the appeal reads.

As earlier reported, Makhnivka authorities banned the UOC.
