On January 13, 2025, Metropolitan Longin of Bancheny called on Ukrainians to stand up for the defense of the abbot of Sviatohirsk Lavra, Metropolitan Grace Arseniy, who has been imprisoned for 20 months.

"Dear brothers and sisters! It is time to defend Metropolitan Arseniy, who is dear to the hearts and souls of the faithful. I ask that all Orthodox Ukraine rise in defense of Metropolitan Arseniy. We can no longer tolerate the abuse of our shepherd, which has been going on for almost two years," the hierarch declared.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that, according to Robert Amsterdam, the Metropolitan Arseny case is a crime against humanity.
