In Zazymya, UOC church agreed to close for negotiations to start
In Zazymya, Kyiv region, the UOC community has agreed with supporters of the OCU, who are trying to seize the ancient Resurrection Church, to close the church and sit down at the negotiating table on Monday, reports the "1 Kozak" Telegram channel.
"Thank God, there were no heated confrontations. But the rights of the UOC community and the fate of the temple are still under threat. We want to thank the police officers separately, as well as the representatives of OCU for relatively civilized behaviour and agreement to solve the conflict constructively at the negotiating table. This is a responsible civil approach," the statement said.
As witnesses reported earlier from the scene of the events, the UOC community prayed in one wing of the church, while supporters of the OCU prayed in the other. There were about 15 people each.
Representatives of the regional police were in the centre of the Holy Resurrection Church, outside there were territorial defense forces.
"Regional police were called to the scene of a possible offence because the community does not trust the local one. The officers from the region behave professionally and objectively. But the intentions of the OCU raiders obviously remain the same. To take away the temple and conduct an 'inventory of property' in it," added "1 Kozak" Telegram channel.
As reported, an OCU "priest" in Zazymya, together with territorial defense forces, is trying to seize the UOC church.
