On February 4, 2026, it became known that Archimandrite Herman (Kulakevych), a monastic of the Varvarivskyi Skete of the Rivne Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, was, after being detained by TRC personnel, sent to one of the military units in Rivne Region. This was reported by the Telegram channel “Rivne. The Voice of the Church.”

The eparchy specified that after passing the military medical commission, the clergyman was deemed fit for military service with restrictions. According to the commission’s conclusion, Archimandrite Herman was considered suitable for service in reserve units and support formations.

As the UOJ reported, on February 3 in Rivne, TRC representatives detained Archimandrite Herman as he was returning from a medical facility. The monk was undergoing an examination due to an acute form of an upper respiratory viral infection.

According to the eparchy, the detention was carried out without regard for the clergyman’s health condition. After that, he was taken to the TRC, where he underwent the military medical board and was then sent to a military unit.

The Rivne Eparchy of the UOC thanked everyone who responded to the request and offered prayers for Archimandrite Herman Kulakevych, and asked to continue praying for the swift arrival of a just peace in Ukraine.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that in Kyiv, the TRC abducted a cleric of the St. Cyril’s Monastery.
