UOC delegation takes part in the meeting of St. Egidius Community in Rome

With the blessing of His Beatitude Onuphry, Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine, the delegation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is taking part in the international meeting of the Community of St. Egidius on the topic “Call for Peace” (Il grido della pace), which takes place from October 23 to 25 in Rome. This was reported by the press service of the DECR UOC.

The delegation includes Archbishop Victor of Baryshivka, head of the UOC Representation to European International Organizations, and Archpriest Nikolai Danilevich, Deputy Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the UOC. The event is attended by representatives of the Local Orthodox Churches, the Catholic Church, other Christian denominations and religious organizations, journalists, representatives of the intellectual circles of Italy and other countries of the world, members of the community from many countries of the world.

The founder of the Community, Professor Andrea Riccardi, the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, and the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, spoke at the opening of the conference on October 23.

One of the main topics discussed at the meeting is the war in Ukraine and its consequences for Europe and the world. Among the topics discussed during the workshops were issues of migration because of the war in Ukraine and other countries of the world. In their speeches, representatives of the UOC expressed gratitude to the Community, representatives of various Christian denominations in Europe, international organizations and European countries for accepting refugees from Ukraine and for the fact that Europe and the world support our country in the fight against Russian aggression.

The Community of St. Egidius is a Christian organization that has branches in 80 countries of the world and is engaged in helping those in need (the poor, the homeless, the elderly, migrants, etc.). In addition, it promotes the dialogue between Christian denominations and religions.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that Archbishop Victor told about the life of the UOC parishes abroad.
