The abbot of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshhorod and Chernobyl, performed monastic tonsure at St. Barbara's Church of Kyiv. This was reported by the secretary of the Rivne Eparchy, Archpriest Viktor Zemlianyi, on his Facebook page on March 5, 2026.

The tonsure ceremony was attended by the monastery brethren and UOC clergy.

The new monk received tonsure with the name Tykhon.

"Our Zakhar Bondaruk became a monk, a resident of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. May the merciful Lord guide him in all God's truth," wrote the priest.

As the UOJ previously reported, the head of the Lavra Reserve stated that 140 monks and novices of the UOC are located on the territory of the Lower Lavra.
