On March 6, 2026, the UOC Convent of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos in the village of Kozelshchansk, Poltava region, marked the feast of the Kozelshchyna Icon of the Mother of God, according to the press service of the Poltava Eparchy.

Clergy and parishioners from the Dormition Cathedral in Myrhorod came for the celebration. The service was led by Fr. Oleksii Smyrnov, dean of the cathedral. Concelebrating with him were Fr. Vasyl Tselka and Fr. Heorhii Momokhod, rectors of parishes in the Poltava Eparchy.

The faithful came to the monastery to venerate its revered shrine. During the service, clergy and laity offered prayers before the wonderworking icon.

After the service, the clergy and pilgrims held a procession around the monastery church with the Kozelshchansk Icon of the Mother of God.

The Kozelshchansk Icon of the Mother of God came to be venerated as wonderworking in the late 19th century in the Poltava region. It gained particular renown after the reported healing of Mariia, the daughter of the nobleman Vasyl Kapnist, who, after fervent prayer before the icon, unexpectedly began to walk despite a severe illness. After that, mass pilgrimages to the shrine began, and a church was built on the Kapnist estate in Kozelshchyna. A women’s monastery later grew up around it, becoming one of the region’s best-known spiritual centers.

As the UOJ previously reported, UOC faithful delivered humanitarian aid to the Poltava Regional Psychiatric Hospital.
