On March 8, 2026 – the Second Sunday of Great Lent, when the Church commemorates the Synaxis of all the Venerable Fathers of the Kyiv Caves – believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Brussels celebrated the patronal feast of their parish, according to the UOC Information and Education Department.

The festive Divine Liturgy was attended by a large number of faithful. Among those present were many Ukrainian families with children. Parishioners and pilgrims began arriving at the church early in the morning, and before long the храм was completely filled with people who had come to share the joy of common prayer on the day of the parish feast.

A special moment of the celebration was the presence of the wonderworking myrrh-streaming Krasnoilsk Icon of the Mother of God, which had been brought for the occasion from Chernivtsi region. Many believers approached the sacred icon in prayer, asking for the protection and intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos.

The parish rector, Archpriest Dmytro Popescu, together with the parishioners, welcomed numerous guests who had come for the service. Some of the pilgrims were accommodated in the homes of local faithful, allowing many of them to take part in the festive services.

According to parishioners, the atmosphere of the celebration was filled with prayer, spiritual joy, and fraternal support. Believers note that for many Ukrainians living far from their homeland, the parish in Brussels has become a place of spiritual unity and encouragement.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church had launched a Paschal charity initiative to help children of displaced families.
