In Lutsk, OCU holds procession in honor of the “Great Prophet Taras”

On March 10, 2026, members of the Volyn Orthodox Theological Academy of the OCU held a religious procession in Lutsk to mark the anniversary of the repose of Taras Shevchenko. In the statement issued by the academy’s press service, he was described as “the great Ukrainian prophet.”
Students and faculty walked through the city streets carrying crosses and church banners. At the Shevchenko monument, they offered prayers for him on the 165th anniversary of his death. The event also featured an address by OCU “Metropolitan” Mykhailo Zinkevych.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that in Kaniv, the OCU and the UGCC had prayed together for the repose of Taras Shevchenko’s soul.
