OCU eparchy comments on UOC delegation at Georgian patriarch’s funeral

The Ternopil Eparchy of the OCU has published a comment regarding the participation of Metropolitan Sergiy of Ternopil and Kremenets as part of an official delegation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church at the funeral of Georgian Patriarch Ilia in Tbilisi.

In a post on its official Facebook page, the eparchy emphasized that the OCU “is not represented at these events,” while the UOC “remains in unity with the Moscow Patriarchate.”

According to the statement, this “serves as evidence of the complex configuration of the contemporary Orthodox world, where questions of voice, representation, and canonicity remain open.”

The OCU’s Ternopil eparchy also assured that it “prayerfully unites with the people of Georgia and closely follows ecclesial and political developments in the country.”

Earlier, the UOJ reported that an official delegation of the UOC took part in the burial of Patriarch Ilia II.
