No one awaited Filaret’s death as eagerly as OCU leadership – Bondarenko

Political analyst Kostiantyn Bondarenko said in a podcast with Oleksandr Shelest that the OCU had been waiting for Filaret’s death in order to launch what he described as a violent takeover of the Kyiv Patriarchate’s property.
“For the past seven years, the OCU has acted in an outright raider-like manner, and not only toward the UOC, but toward the UOC-KP as well. Questions of legality or ethics simply do not exist for the OCU hierarchs,” Bondarenko said.
According to him, the OCU leadership treated Filaret with a certain degree of respect, understanding that he could not be touched directly. At the same time, however, they were impatiently awaiting his death.
“No one awaited Filaret’s death as eagerly as the representatives of the OCU, so they could carry on their raider-style deeds. It is almost straight out of Pushkin – almost like Eugene Onegin waiting for his uncle to die,” the political analyst said.
He also stressed that Dumenko had never acquired real authority as a spiritual leader.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that Bondarenko had outlined what the authorities should do regarding the UOC in the context of the negotiations.
