Nigerian authorities have reported the capture of a terrorist group responsible for the bloody attack on a Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State, reports Daily Trust.
The spokesman of the Force, Anthony Placid, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, confirmed that the FID-IRT special unit operatives conducted coordinated raids in Kwara and Kogi states.
The arrest of 33 suspects was the result of an investigation into a terrorist attack committed in November 2025. At that time, militants stormed Christ Apostolic Church right during evening worship, killing three believers and taking 38 parishioners captive along with the pastor.
During searches in the settlements of Kayama, Patigi and Okeode, police discovered a weapons cache. In addition to seven AK-47 assault rifles, magazines and radios, the criminals abandoned an anti-aircraft gun during their attempted escape.
The group is also suspected of murders, human trafficking and illegal firearms trafficking.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that two Christians were killed and a pastor was kidnapped during worship in Nigeria.
