UOC hierarch holds memorial service for victims of Kulykove Pole tragedy

On May 2, 2026, the anniversary of the Kulykove Pole tragedy, a memorial service was held at the Holy Dormition Monastery in Odesa, the eparchy’s press service reported.

The monastery clergy, led by Archbishop Viktor of Artsyz, served a panikhida for all those who died as a result of the mass unrest and the fire at the Trade Unions House.

Services were held that day in all churches and monasteries of the Odesa Eparchy.

“On May 2, 2026, the day of the 12th anniversary of the tragic events in Odesa, when many people died as a result of mass unrest and provocations, memorial services for all those killed that day will be held in the churches and monasteries of the Odesa Eparchy of the UOC. The clergy and faithful will offer prayers to the Merciful Lord for the repose of the souls of the departed,” read an earlier decree by Metropolitan Agafangel of Odesa and Izmail, published on official resources.

As the UOJ reported, the Kasperov Icon of the Mother of God was venerated in Odesa.
