On May 6, 2026, the feast day of the Great Martyr George the Victory-Bearer, Metropolitan Pimen of Rivne and Ostroh officiated at the patronal feast celebrations at St. George Metochion in Rivne, the UOC Information Center reports.
That day, the monastery marked the 25th anniversary of its founding. Numerous city residents, pilgrims, the sisters of St. Nicholas Convent in Horodok headed by Abbess Mikhaila (Zaiats), and Abbess Daniila, superior of the Intercession Convent in Hoshcha, prayed at the festive Divine Liturgy.
In his sermon, Bishop Pimen spoke about the significance of St. George’s feat, noting his unshakable steadfastness before his tormentors. The archpastor stressed that sincere prayer gave the holy warrior the strength to endure every trial, and wished the faithful likewise to draw spiritual strength from turning to God in order to overcome life’s hardships.
After the Gospel reading, special prayers were offered in the church for an end to the war and for the protection of Ukrainian soldiers who venerate Great Martyr George as their heavenly patron.
The ruling hierarch reminded parishioners of the history of the metochion’s founding and wished the sisters of the monastery many more years of service under peaceful skies. The celebrations concluded with a procession around the monastery buildings and a festive moleben.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that the memory of St. Anastasia was honored at Kyiv’s Intercession Convent.
